Description:
One of the best things about the willow basketry course is that you get to take home your very own, handmade basket. You will spend the day working on your own creation, with Katrin helping you at every stage. Throughout the process you will learn about the area of willow craft and how people have been using willow for thousands of years to make strong, useful and beautiful baskets. You will also learn how to grow and harvest willow, a process which in itself is fascinating, and will make your basket even more impressive.
The day also includes morning refreshments as well as lunch at the wonderful on site cafes at Bantry House or Fota House.
Tutor:
Katrin Schwart is a true expert on her subject and makes these courses great fun. To find out more please see our tutor's page.
Things to bring:
It would be handy to bring along basketry tools if you have any. Also, if you have any willow creations that you have worked on feel free to bring it along to show the tutor. Apart from that you just need to bring yourself along!
